All schools in the Tustin Unified School District will be closed until April 10.

IRVINE ‒ On Monday, March 16, 2020, the Tustin Unified School (TUSD) District Board of Education held a special board meeting and announced that all schools in the district will be closed from March 23 to April 10.

The decision was made as an emergency resolution in response to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic. “This decision was reached after considering the health and safety of TUSD students and staff, the guidance provided by the State of California, and in consultation with Orange County public health and education agencies,” states Dr. Gregory Franklin, the superintendent of TUSD, via an email. “The TUSD Board recognizes the importance of schools in the lives of students and families, thus, this is not an easy decision, nor one taken lightly.”

Following the district’s spring break, students will return with their education through distance online learning with their devices and home internet connectivity. Students who need assistance with access to these resources are to contact their respective school principals for further guidance. Additionally, the district will begin to serve student meals and provide additional services by Tuesday, March 24. More details will be communicated later in the week.
